From April 15th to 23rd Camilla Nylund returned to the Vienna State Opera for the last time this season to reprise the role of Elsa von Brabant in Richard Wagner’s “Lohengrin” alongside Piotr Beczala in the title role and Nina Stemme in her role debut as Ortrud. The production by Andreas Homoki, which also starred Camilla in its premiere cast in 2014, saw its final renewal in these three performances after serving as a collaboration between the Vienna State Opera and the Zürich Opera House for the past nine years.

March 5th 2023 marked the premiere of “Siegfried” in Andreas Homoki’s instalment of Richard Wagner’s Ring-Cycle at the Zurich Opera House. With that came the continuation of Camilla Nylund’s debut in the role of Brünnhilde which began in September 2022 with “Die Walküre” and will conclude with the premiere of “Götterdämmerung” at the end of the year.

On January 22nd Camilla Nylund debuted as Katerina Ismailova in Angelina Nikonova’s new production of Dimitri Shostakovich’s “Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk” (German: “Lady Macbeth von Mzensk”) at the Hamburg State Opera. The highly anticipated series of six performances was well-received by audiences and media.

After a two-year pause, the Vienna Opera Ball is returning in its 65th instalment on February 16th 2023. The event’s famed opening ceremony is set to be themed in light of “100 Years of Viennese Dance and Operetta”, with Camilla Nylund and Andreas Schager performing pieces by Franz Lehár and Robert Stolz.
